“There are different kinds of spiritual gifts but the same Spirit; there are different forms of service but the same Lord; there are different workings but the same God who produces all of them in everyone. To each individual the manifestation of the Spirit is given for some benefit.”
(1 Cor 12.4-7)
Mission
As faith communities of prayer, learning and service, Creighton University and the Archdiocese of Omaha have created a Master of Arts in Ministry for those preparing for professional ministry in the Church of the Roman Catholic tradition. Prospective participants—whether lay women or men, consecrated religious, or ordained—will be provided with the spiritual foundation, theological understanding and pastoral competencies required to serve collaboratively and effectively in today’s Church and society of many races and cultures through the integration of these elements:
- A curriculum founded on Scripture and the Catholic theological tradition including systematic, liturgical, moral, spiritual, and pastoral studies
- A proficiency in personal and ministerial competencies based on the wisdom of the Church’s teaching and practice
- An apostolic formation rooted in one’s giftedness, blessed by one’s family, and illuminated by faith—prayer, retreats, theological reflection
As these elements are woven into the tapestry of ministry, a synthesis takes place in one’s mind, heart and mission that is manifested in service to the People of God.
