Ben Boyd

My name is Ben Boyd. I'm originally from North Platte, Nebraska, but have moved to Omaha in pursuit of God's call. I am currently a member of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton's parish in Omaha. It is a strong parish with a number of activities for adults and youth. We have really great Priests at St. Elizabeth Ann's. I think that is why many parishioners attend daily mass and confession.

After high school, I had no direction in my life and found little fulfillment in my studies or jobs that I worked prior. In searching for my purpose, I guess one could say, "I found God." During countless times in my life (that can only be called coincidences for so long), I realized that Our Lord was talking to me and giving me direction. His call was something that I didn't embrace immediately, but the closer I got to Jesus through the Eucharist and in prayer, the more I understood.

Seminary life is something that will help any man, young or old, no matter what his vocation in life is. In attending seminary, students are: surrounded by good influences, shown how to pray, taught discipline, given an education, and most of all, given a model to be a good Catholic man.

If you are discerning a call to the Priesthood, I would encourage you to talk to a Priest or a seminarian, of course, most of all, PRAY. Be open to God's will in your life and listen for His direction. Remember, He loves you and knows how you can serve Him best.

I'm 26 years old and I've lived many places, met many people, worked many jobs, learned many trades, and won many championships...but nothing compares to the excitement of following the call Jesus Christ!

Sacrifice in this life is nothing compared to the rewards of eternity.
