Jose Hernandez

My name is Jose Luis Hernandez, and I was born in Mexico. My dad's name is Ezequiel Hernandez and my Mom's Maria Socorro Villalpando de Hernandez. We are a family of twelve children. I have seven bothers and three sisters. When I was twelve years old I went to high school the seminary in Mexico. I then took my philosophy, and one year of theology in a minor seminary. After my first year of theology I left the seminary and my county to immigrate to the United States seeking new horizons. I thank God because I have been given a change to experience some of them.

When I first came to the United States I started sharing with the church, part of all the gifts that the Lord gave me throughout my seminary formation. I had the opportunity to meet Father Jose Mendoza from Saint Michael Parish in South Sioux City, Nebraska, who immediately offered support, confidence, direction, and care. After a year I was an active parishioner and I became the coordinator of the youth group and sacristan. By the grace of God and with the help of Father Mendoza, I returned to the seminary to conclude my formation to the priesthood.

Now I am a Seminarian for the Omaha Archdiocese in which I feel very proud and grateful for this opportunity. I would like to invite all young men who are mysteriously feeling the call of God, to answer the Lord with generosity. Do not be afraid! Remember the words of the Lord, "I will be with all of you until the end of ages." May the Lord who began to build upon me His grace, let Him to finish it.
