What need is addressed by this program?

This ministry creates opportunities for adults, who have experienced a death of a spouse or divorce or separation, to come together in a community of support.

What services are provided?

Friendship: Networking
Social: Dances, Various social activities
Educational: Monthly Speakers, Newsletter, and Conferences
Spiritual: Home Mass, Prayer Line

Who receives the services?

Adults who are Widowed, Divorced or Separated

What are the goals/hopes for results?

The Widowed, Divorced and Separated (WDS) is a peer to peer Christian ministry sponsored by the Archdioceses of Omaha for the Widowed, Divorced and Separated. We offer a safe environment where men and women and their families can find support in the following areas; spiritual, educational, friendship and social.

What is the history of dept/program?

In the spring of 1976, Divorced Catholics was organized to fill a need of divorced, separated and widowed persons, regardless of their religious affiliation. It was formed so that hurting people of any faith could find people in similar situations, caring people with an ear to listen to them and a shoulder for them to cry on.

How does program operate, how does one get enrolled/involved?

In addition to a monthly meeting, WDS provides social activities that offer friendship and recreation to men and women adjusting to the single lifestyle. Each location has a different way of signing up as a member. It is best to check what the process is for each location.

What is the cost?

Some location ask for a free will offering. The Omaha group publishes a monthly newsletter that is mailed to those who request it. That cost is $15.00.

Who do I contact for more information?
