Kids are human, so are parents!  So there are times when mistakes are made, or situations arise when misbehavior and conflict seem to be overwhelming!  When families get stuck in patterns of behavior that they cannot change, the outside help of a teacher, school counselor  or family therapist can sometime  help  turn things around quickly.

But most difficult situations that arise with children can be resolved with a change in parenting attitude or method.  Pressures on families come not only from outside forces but from those ordinary inevitable tensions that come from within the home.   Different temperaments and lack of a united front from parents can cause pain and difficulties at home.   The resources in this section of PARENTLINK provide good ideas for addressing the difficult times for parents and kids.

Love that is “patient, kind, not rude…not quick-tempered, does not brood over injury”, as St Paul describes Christian love, is the love parents are called to provide for their children.  With prayer and God’s help, kids in conflict can emerge from their troubles with a deeper sense of being loved and forgiven by their parents and by God.
